I'm leaving today
I'm leaving today to go somewhere that should be pretty interesting... However, I don't know how long it will be until I have internet access again. Hopefully two/three days...
In other news... today is FRIDAY THE 13th!!! Do you know what that means? No? Well... it means that to avoid bad luck, you should buy stuff at the store - www.cafepress.com/rabidcentipede - Trust me, it will work.
And now, for some random meaningless musings on the video game industry:
Okay, don't get me wrong, services like Xbox Live and Steam are oh so wonderful and great, but they are allowing developers to become more and more lazy. Before, companies would actually have to make a COMPLETE game, TEST IT, and then release it. Now, it seems like companies just put their first beta version of a game up for sale, let people buy it and test it, and then fix any problems with patches, expansion packs, updates, etc. This may sound good, but it gets taken to an extreme. When I buy a game, I would like a full game, not some half-baked demo for which I will have to download nightly patches, updates, and "extra" content that probably should have been in the game in the first place. I'm looking at you, Valve. Team Fortress 2 is an excellent game, but I feel I've been beta testing it for the past few months. Things constantly change, new play modes are added... bugs are fixed... why wasn't the original game like this? Looking back, the original version that I bought seems pretty pathetic in comparison.
Eh, I guess that's about it for now. Enjoy your summer!
